About the event
Join us for a night of wine, cake, and 3x fabulous authors discussing all things books. Toni Jordan and Dianne Yarwood will be in conversation with Joanna Nell at Berkelouw Books Mona Vale on Wednesday the 29th of March at 6:30pm. Their new books tap into the humour and pathos of ordinary life, and these three women will have you laughing out loud with their stories.
Toni Jordan’s 'Prettier if She Smiled More' will make you laugh and cry with empathy and recognition and asks the question: when is it too late to start over?
Dianne Yarwood’s 'The Wakes' is a heartfelt, funny and uplifting debut about two failing marriages, two strangers falling in love, two friends embarking on a catering business - and the four funerals that connect them all.
They will be discussing their new books with local and beloved author Joanna Nell (bestselling author of The Single Ladies of Jacaranda Retirement Village; The Great Escape from Woodlands Nursing Home; The Last Voyage of Mrs Henry Parker).
Tickets are $12 ($10 ticket + $2 booking fee). Ticket cost is redeemable on the purchase of the book titles being launched at this event, 'Prettier If She Smiled More' by Toni Jordan and 'The Wakes' by Dianne Yarwood. Wine and sweets will be served on the night.
Ticket sales open from Monday the 20th of February at 9am. Ticket sales will close Wednesday the 29th of March at 9am.
A bit more about the authors:
Toni Jordan has worked as a molecular biologist, quality control chemist, TAB operator and door-to-door aluminium siding salesperson. She is the author of six novels including the international bestseller Addition, which was longlisted for the Miles Franklin Award, Nine Days, which was awarded Best Fiction at the 2012 Indie Awards and was named in Kirkus Review's top 10 Historical Novels of 2013, and Our Tiny, Useless Hearts, which was longlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award. Toni has been published widely in newspapers and magazines. Prettier If She Smiled More is her new book.
Dianne Yarwood worked in accounting and corporate advisory in London and Sydney. She also nurtured a love for cooking and catering. At the age of forty, with three young children, she became very ill and her life was saved by an emergency doctor. This brush with mortality gave her the courage to do what she's always wanted to do - write. Dianne lives in Sydney with her husband. The Wakes is her first novel.
